Fetal chest and heart coronal plane

If a diaphragmatic hernia is suspected in the axial plane or has to be ruled out, the lungs and diaphragm are better imaged in a coronal plane slightly anterior to the spine and ribs. In this plane, the relationship of the stomach, diaphragm, and lungs can be easily evaluated.
