Fetal head coronal plane


In an oblique coronal plane of the face, the eyes, orbits, and the Retronasal triangle consisting of the nasal bones, the maxillary processes, and the anterior maxilla with the alveolar ridge can be recognized. The mandibular gap is also seen in this plane.

  1. Nasal bone
  2. Orbitas/eyes
  3. Maxillary processes
  4. Maxilla-alveolar ridge
  5. Mandible
  6. Mandibular gap
Occipital bone – Visualized and intact
Both eyes – In coronal plane, eyes seen with the nose between
Retronasal triangle – In coronal plane, no cleft and normal mandibular gap
Nasal region – Nose present and nasal bone ossified
